Running a business during the holiday season can be difficult. What you need to do is advertise with a holiday sense of mind. You need to start early as well. If you are advertising something for Christmas, you should start advertising in mid-October.
Here are some idea’s of things you can do to boost your sales during the holiday months. Now some of these depend on the business you run.
• Craft Fairs
• Mom packs
• Box swaps
• Button ads
• Solo ads
• Network ads
• Newspaper ads
Some of these ideas are offline and some of them are online. Both are important for any business.
Let me explain what these are. Some are pretty self explanatory while others are not.
We all know what a craft fair is. I’m sure most of you have been to one or two as well. To find out when your community is having one, call the Chamber of Commerce in your area or go online to their website.
Mom Packs are a great way to get your business noticed and give something away for free at the same time. You can find people that want to exchange flyers and fillers with you at mompack.com. You can send people your flyers and fillers and they will add them to their packs. You can also request flyers and fillers and add those to your packs. You can hand these packs out at craft fairs, schools, daycares, etc.
Box swaps are fun to do. What you do is send samples to the owner of the swap. They put all the samples into a box and mail them out to people that purchase the boxes. An example of a box swap can be found at finance.groups.yahoo.com/groups/holidayboxswap.
Button ads are great. You can create a button for the holidays and use that to advertise with. You can purchase a button spot on your favorite advertising website, you can exchange buttons with other website owners, or you can submit them for free to your favorite plugboards.
Solo Ads are another great way to get the word out to a large number of people for a small amount of money. Solo ads are text only ads submitted to newsletter groups or other groups.
When you join a network, there are usually places where you can submit free ads. Most of the time there are specific days of the week to do this. Make sure you follow the rules on the network.
Newspaper ads can be expensive, but they reach a large volume of people. Check with your local newspaper for pricing. You may also check with the Quick Quarter, Thrifty Nickel, or whatever your free paper is. Their prices are usually cheaper. Bad thing about those papers is you may not reach the best of audiences.
So, there you have it, some great ways to advertise your business during the holiday season. Use your imagination when preparing to advertise during any holiday season. Just make sure you start early.
