Gain Traffic to Your Web Site
By Sam Barns
Have you ever wondered why some web sites get so much traffic? Everyone thinks that if you put up a great web site that people will just come to your site.
It will take a lot of time and work in the beginning to get links added to your website so in order to gain traffic, but it will be well worth it in the end. As you gain more links to your site, the Search Engines spider your web pages looking for other sites linking to yours. The more sites these spiders find linking to your site the more popularity ranking your website gets. This will give you a higher ranking position when someone searches the web.
There are many ways to gain traffic, some of them are
1. Submit your site in chat rooms. This is a guaranteed hit. Youre guaranteed to at least get 50% of the people in the chat to visit your site. Imagine you submitting to over eighty people, and they all visit. That is a lot of hits!
2. Submit your site to larger sites. This is the second best way of doing things. As a lot of people look at the links section, and if your link is there, there is a good chance of that person going to it.
3. Search Engine and Directory Submissions. If you need a lot of hits, then submitting to search engines and web directories will do the trick.
4. The other way to bring free traffic to your website is writing articles. With a little work on a monthly basis, writing articles, you will be surprised by all the free traffic this will bring to your website. All you really need to write an article is a subject to write about. Choose something you know enough about to write about it. Whether it be about how to “organize a home based business”, or if you are a stay at home mom, you could write an article “tips for work at home moms. There are endless possibilities to what you could write about.
After you have written an article, you will want to write a few sentences about yourself this is known as a resource box). Make sure you have included your website address.
Webmasters are always looking to publish articles, because it will help their Search Engine rankings by providing useful content on their website. When you submit your articles to other websites, this will be beneficial to you as well because when you have an article published on someone’s site, a portion of their visitors will visit your site. Once you have submitted enough of your articles on the Internet, your traffic will dramatically increase and so will your Search Engine ranking. Make sure you add your articles to your own website because search engines love new content to a website.
There are lots of software tools out there for doing multiple search engine submissions and keeping you updated on those sites, but there’s no guarantee they’ll work. You end up paying a bunch of money and getting frustrated when some kid in Alaska ends up getting higher placement just because his site’s been online for two years more than yours has.
It just seems like relying on search engines to drive traffic into your Web site is quite a gamble. It’s nice when you get a hit from an engine, but there’s no controlled way to use an engine to drive people into your site.
For that reason, it’s also not a good idea to judge your Web Development Company based on your search engine placement or to put high search engine placement on a list of goals as you’re developing a site.
Instead, set your goals around functionality and ease of use for your site and set separate goals for various ways to market your site and draw people into it through the Web and other means. That might mean putting your Web address in your radio commercials and newspaper ads or placing banner ads on other Web sites or flashing your address on your TV commercial or sending out fliers telling your customers that you’ve created a new site. Once you’ve spent your time and effort building a great, useful site, you’ll discover that your Web traffic will start to increase on its own.
