There is a time and a place for networking and sometimes it may not be easy to tell, but it’s a decision you have to make. You need to think about where you are, why you’re there, and what’s going on before you decide to start networking.
There obviously are places you know right from the beginning are not for networking. Those places would be the hospital, a funeral, and the birth of a baby. Then you have the places like the store, the school, and the park that would make the perfect place.
The important thing to remember is the reason you’re where you are. Think of the feelings of others before you decide to jump in and start networking. Don’t be afraid to network if you’re in a place where you could network. If this happens, you won’t show people what you do and you could lose potential customers.
Networking can be done at any time and anywhere, but you need to remember that there is a good time and a good place to do it and when you’re not in that place, you need to refrain from doing it. You don’t want the people around you to look down on you. If you network in the wrong place, you’re bound to have people remember that and tell others and that could be damaging to your business.
Take the feelings of others into consideration when you’re thinking about your business and how to network in the situation you’re in. Others will thank you for it.
