There are two parts to that question. The first is social networking and the second is Virtual Assistant. Let’s define both of them before we talk about them together.
Social networking is a task that is performed both online and offline. Online social networking is done through sites like Twitter and Facebook, but you also have forums, message boards, and other techniques. Offline social networking is done through networking meetings or other types of gatherings. You can network with people at the grocery store, your child’s school, or the park. It doesn’t matter where or when you do it, it’s the fact that you do it is what’s important.
A Virtual Assistant is a person that works for another person, but they may or may not be in the same location. A Virtual Assistant works from her home and is paid for tasks completed. She does not receive pay for down time or vacation time and she doesn’t receive benefits from the businesses she works for. She is a contractor for the businesses she works with.
Now together a social networking Virtual Assistant is a person that performs social networking tasks online for a business. Since she is a Virtual Assistant, these tasks are strictly done online. Most times a Virtual Assistant is not able to do networking without your help and input, so it’s almost impossible to do this offline.
The tasks a social networking Virtual Assistant will do include the following.
1. Set up accounts at the social networking sites
2. Schedule posts for those sites that allow it
3. Manage incoming requests
4. Post messages
5. Give guidance on usage
6. Give tips on posts and times
There are many other things that are not included in that list. It’s not because they’re not important, but it’s because they are different for each business, person, and VA. These are the main things that are done. The biggest thing is support. You’ll receive all the support you need from this person so you can have success with social networking.
For business owners that are busy or unfamiliar with social networking hiring help is a must. A social networking Virtual Assistant is the way to go because they’re in the business to help business owners with the tasks that go along with social networking.
Social networking is a good way to build trust, grow your business, and meet people that can help you with your business. If you don’t use this technique to you could be losing a lot of traffic and income to your business and that’s not what you want. If you’re struggling with social networking, hire a social networking Virtual Assistant.

Do you consider squidoo social networking. I hear it’s easy… but I don’t want to take the time to figure it out.
I love your explanation of what Social Networking does for you.
“Social networking is a good way to build trust, grow your business, and meet people that can help you with your business.”
This sounds like a great task to turn over to a VA that is familiar with the most effective methods of networking.
Kathryn – Squidoo is a social networking site. It’s becoming more and more popular as time goes on. I’m sure there are a number of VA’s that know how to use it and would set them up. I have created a number for my businesses and I’m sure others have too.
Sheila – social networking is something that a lot of people have a hard time scheduling. They know it’s important, but they struggle to do it because it indirectly increases their profit.
Wow, this is great. It sounds like there are a lot of tasks a Virtual Asst can help with! I will definitely keep you in mind for when I’m ready to hire, because I like the idea of working with someone I know – we have mutual friends in the blog world and that helps both of us stay accountable.
