Working your business while the kids are in school is easy to do. You’ll have the time you need to make calls or work in peace. This all changes when the kids are not in school. When they’re out for a day or two it’s easy to deal with it, but it’s not easy when they’re off for three or more days.
During spring break, Christmas break, and summer break you’ll need to create a plan of attack so you know exactly how you plan to work your business. The plan you create will need to be based on the age of your children and how you work your business.
Creating a plan for working your business around the kids can be a challenge, but once you create it, you’ll find it’ll be easy to do each time, mainly because things won’t change in your plan. You’ll have to change the things your children will do based on their age each time, but for the most part you’ll be good to go.
The first thing you need to do is create a to-do list of everything that must be done while the kids are out of school. You’ll need to create one for your business and one for your personal needs. This would be errands, appointments, and anything the kids must do.
The second thing you need to do when you create your plan is decide if there is anything you need to do each day that must be done at a specific time. If you do have these things you’ll need to write them down and add the specific time they must be done. This will be any sort of deadline that may come up during the time your children will be out of school.
Now you need to decide if you have anything on your list that can be put on hold until the children go back to school. If you have anything that can wait, it’s a good idea to write those things down and put them in a place where you’ll remember and then add a note to your calendar to remind you about them.
At this point you’re ready to schedule your days so you have time to play with the kids and spend time with them while working your business. If you have times where you need to work in silence it’s a good idea to find activities for your children to do by themselves. DVD’s, games, or playing outside are just a few of the activities you can schedule for your children.
Preparing ahead of time for the days when you’re children are out of school will make things a lot easier when you’re trying to work a home business. Creating this plan will help you to work more efficiently and effectively.
