As many of you know, I participated in a writing challenge that Ezine Articles put on. It was called “Hundred Articles in Hundred Days”. This meant I had to write and submit 100 articles in 100 days. It lived up to its name. LOL
On Sunday afternoon I was writing away trying to reach my goal, feeling frustrating because I still had so many to go. I told Kevin I didn’t think I was going to make it and Chris said, Mom you can do it. Have faith in yourself.
After a little bit of time Chris said that he’d help me write an article. I said ok go for it. So then of course, his next question was, what do I write about? So I looked at my list and told him he could write an article about how a mom can work her home business and keep her teens busy.
So he thought about it for a minute and then said I don’t understand. So I told him to write down things that he enjoys doing that would keep him busy so I could work my business. So he sat down and started to write. After a few minutes he said he couldn’t do it, that it was too hard. Kevin and I said you can do it buddy, have faith in yourself. So he started again.
He decided the TV was a distraction and he needed to work, so he went upstairs to his room. About an hour later he comes down and says he’s done. He emails it to me and says it’s not very good, but here it is.
I’ll tell you I was so proud of him that he attempted to do this even though he didn’t think it was going to be very good. Some kids would just give up or not even bother to ask.
I took what he wrote and revised it a bit, but used every single one of his suggestions and wrote the article. I read it to him and Kevin when it was done and they both liked it so I submitted it to Ezine Articles. That article was approved today. So I want to share the link with you so you can see what thoughts a 14 year old boy came up with.

Chris, your dad and I are so proud of you. You can do anything if you set your mind to it. Faith is a wonderful thing and I know it’s something you can achieve when you believe in yourself and in God.
Love you buddy!

What a wonderful story! I have always been one to give my daughter credit for having the ability to do anything and she has always lived up to that ability.
It is amazing what kids are capable of when given the right guidance and support.
What wonderful parents you are to be offering your son the opportunity to learn how important he is in your life and the confidence to move forward even if he is unsure of himself.
You have every right to be proud!
Good job to you all

Thank you so much Cindy. I appreciate your kind words. It’s hard at times to make kids have the confidence they need to do something. However, in this situation it helped that he gave me the same advice earlier in the day.
Thanks again.
